On Orkney, we want you to enjoy the journey from A to B, see the sights along the way and arrive relaxed and ready for adventure.
If you plan to be with us for just a few days, then no problem. We know you'll come back again, but while you're here the close proximity of many of the top attractions and numerous travel options mean that you won't miss out. With just a little bit of planning, you'll be amazed at what you can cram in!
All the inhabited islands are accessible by Orkney Ferries, so even our remote outer isles are within your reach. You can even afford to be spontaneous and go where the mood takes you. Foot passengers can simply jump aboard and buy a ticket - and remember that bikes go free. If you're travelling on four wheels, cars should be booked in advance.
You can also reach some of our islands by plane, with regular flights from Kirkwall Airport. We can promise you stunning views and the experience of taking the world's shortest scheduled flight between Westray and Papa Westray - timed at a nudge under 2 minutes!
Exploring Orkney by road comes highly recommended. Forget about traffic jams and tailbacks, we can promise you a much more relaxing experience. Car rental is widely available and the views come free! Coach tours, taxi services and local bus operators provide other options, while cycle hire is popular with visitors of all ages. So, whichever mode of transport appeals most, you can rest assured it's available.
