Burnhouse Self Catering
Hoy|From £500 - £600 per week
The Self -Catering accommodation at Burnhouse has the most spectacular panoramic views of Scapa Flow and an RSPB reserve on its doorstep.
Burnhouse is a modern bungalow at the foot of Ward Hill, fully equipped for a comfortable stay in an idyllic setting here in Orkney. A week at Burnhouse offers the ideal family package of walking, history, nature and relaxation soaking up that tremendous view. The photos say it all, the link to the Flickr shows more. There is a bright, spacious living and dining area equipped with modern amenities for enjoying your evening meals, and a lush green garden for spending the warmer summer nights in.
On the island of Hoy; you may visit and experience Scapa Flow Visitors Centre, Dwarfie Stane, Hackness, Martello Tower and the Old Man of Hoy itself! 2015 saw the return of a pair of Sea Eagles, however sadly no chicks this year. Keep binoculars at the ready for Hen Harriers, Great Skuas, Puffins, peregrine falcons and more - Burnhouse is your ideal base for wildlife. Visitor favourites are a sunny day on the infamous Rackwick Bay, a walk to the Old Man of Hoy, a hike up Ward Hill or all the way round the foot through the glen, and rock pooling and beach combing at Braebuster.
A day trip to Stromness on the ferry from Moaness is a must for craft shops, cafes, pubs/restaurants, post office, the Pier Arts Centre and a well-kept museum, as well as having a bus link with regular connections to and from the Orkney mainland, for the days you want to explore further afield. I would highly recommend a tour at Ness Battery if you have an interest in WW1/2. Call Andy on 07759857298.
