Palace Cottage is a beautifully presented spacious cottage situated right beside the ruins of the Earls Palace and St Magnus Church directly opposite.
It has been renovated to a very high standard but has sympathetically retained many original features, including wooden paneled walls and ceilings and traditional fireplaces. It has loads of character mixed with a high quality of furnishings which ensure a stay of complete comfort and relaxation, with an open hearth fire and whirlpool bath to compliment the package. It may be a cottage but it boasts lots of space with its large king sized bedroom with deep memory foam king mattress, as well as a separate dining room with coffee machine. There is also a sun porch overlooking the flower garden with picnic bench, and a lawned garden to the rear with clothes line. There is private parking and a garage which can be used to store bicycles.
The cottage is in an excellent location, walking distance to the Brough of Birsay, Marwick Head, Skibi Geo and the Whalebone, where many bird can be spotted including puffins, artic terns and hen harriers. The Barony Mill is very close and can be seen working daily with an guided tour available. Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar and Maeshowe are only 15 minutes away by car, similarily all 3 of the trout fishing lochs - Boardhouse, Swanney and Harray are within 15 minutes drive. BirsayBay Tearoom, Palace Stores, Fluke and Orkneyinga Jewellery and Yellowbird Gallery are all in the immediate area.
