Kringla is central for Orkney's World Heritage Site, christened the Heart of Neolithic Orkney. This includes the neolithic settlement of Skara Brae, Ness of Brodgar, Maeshowe, the Ring o' Brodgar and the Stones of Stenness. Also convenient for both the farm museums, the Brough of Birsay and the Brough of Gurness.

Hotel and shops are only a 2 minute walk. Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, Ness of Brodgar, Maeshowe, Standing Stones of Stenness, trout fishing, RSPB reserves and breathtaking coastline all within a 15 minute drive.

There are unlimited beaches all within easy reach of Kringla. Enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches of Skaill or Aikerness, or explore the rock pools at the Point of Buttquoy, or walk along the breathtaking cliffs at Yesnaby. Where ever you choose to go there is always plenty of wildlife. In the spring and summer the glorious wild flowers are breathtaking, sea pinks, squill and bladder campion are abundant. It is great fun to hunt for the colourful puffins or watch the seals sunbathing on the rocks.

Orkney is a great place for a walking holiday. There are an abundance of breathtaking walks over moorland, along beaches, on top of cliffs or quiet tracks. What ever your level of fitness you will find something suitable.

Orkney is internationally renowned for its excellent bird-watching, but the sheer number of birds which the islands support makes it one of the best all-season destinations. Orkney is one of the best places in the United Kingdom for seabirds with some 21 breeding species. The RSPB owns, leases or manages over 8,000 hectares of land in Orkney. Visitors to Orkney will be rewarded at any time of the year, with spectacular sightings of rare or shy birds, in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The variety of habitat and the richness of the farmland, heather moorland, and coastal waters provide ideal breeding territory for a host of species, and there is always something of interest, whatever the season. Kringla is an ideal location for bird watching being central to many of the RSPB reserves and the bird city of Marwick Head.

Storm watchers often come to Orkney to witness the wild seas in winter. The sheer power of the waves is unforgettable. Kringla is the perfect cosy haven to come back to after a day battling against the elements!

Kringla is also very convenient for all the lochs. Most of the lochs in Orkney offer free fishing for wild brown trout. Dave is a keen fisherman and is always happy to give advice to first time anglers or the seasoned fisherman. He will help find the best boats and guide you to the best location for the direction of wind or cloud cover.

Well-behaved dogs are accepted by arrangement in Kringla Apartment 2 only.

No dogs are allowed in Kringla Apartment 1 or 3 for the benefit of guests with pet allergies.
