Join a guided tour of an ancient settlement on this beautiful tidal island in Orkney.

The Brough of Birsay is found off the north-western coast of the Orkney mainland and is home to structures from the Neolithic era right through to the 17th century. The remains of a Pictish society and an early Norse settlement can be found here.

What makes the island so special is the fact it can only be reached at low tide via a concrete causeway. This guided tour will help you cross safely and let you explore the buildings on the island and learn about archaeology through the ages.

The tour will be held at 12.30pm on 15th August and will last one hour. It will run strictly on time due to the tide. There are 15 spaces available and participants should meet on the beach beside the causeway 10-15 mins before the tour start time.

Tickets cost £9.00 for adults (16-64yrs), £7.20 for concession (65yrs+) and £5.40 for children (7-15yrs). Children must be accompanied by an adult.
