Four keen local cooks - Caroline Kritchlow, Colin Luke, Callum MacInnes and Aaron Moar - will step up to the hot plate for the competition, being staged in the Orkney Theatre on 27 September.
Orkney Amateur Master Chef 2017, sponsored by NorthLink Ferries and Jewson - will be judged by previous Orkney Amateur Master Chef winner, Kerry Leask, Orkney College UHI hospitality lecturer, Daniel Laud, and the Hamnavoe Restaurant’s Sarah Taylor, who took part in the professional Orkney Master Chef contest in 2014.
The panel of judges will sample the menus produced by the entrants, which must use as much local produce as possible. Some members of the audience will also get the chance to taste the competition food and give their opinion on it.
Keeping the evening simmering will be hosts Dave Gray and Robbie Fraser, from BBC Radio Orkney.
Edgar Balfour, project manager for Orkney food, drink and crafts, said: “We’ve got four very strong contestants taking part in this year’s event and, whilst the aim of the night is to have fun, there’s bound to be some good natured competitiveness in the mix too. We’re also delighted to have three very experienced and respected judges overseeing proceedings. In short, we think we’ve got the perfect recipe for a grand night out, so we’d urge folk to get their tickets as soon as possible.”

Jewson, which supplied the fitted kitchen for the event, is also providing two ovens and four electric hobs.
The competition winner will receive a cash prize and the coveted Orkney Amateur Master Chef trophy.
