Celebrate the 200th anniversary of the RNLI with a special day of events in Stromness.

To mark the big day, the Stromness RNLI is hosting a mass parade of Pipe Bands, plus crew and guild members, through the town on Sunday 5th May.

Bands from Stromness, Kirkwall, Wick and Thurso will be joined by the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band from Canada, with more than 40 musicians set to travel to Orkney from across the pond.

The parade itself will begin at 2pm, winding its way through Stromness from the Old Lifeboat Shed at the Golf Club to the Pierhead. There will be plenty of activities to enjoy from 1pm at the Pierhead, including local food and drink, stalls, Highland dancing, live music and more. There will also be a special performance by the Orkney Rocks choir.
