Founded in 1997 by master craftsman Steven Cooper, Aurora has grown to become one of the leading jewellery businesses in Orkney, with a reputation for producing truly unique silver and gold pieces influenced by the history, landscapes and culture of the islands.

Steven works closely with designers Teresa Shearer and Emma Thomson to create Aurora's distinctive rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, brooches and kilt pins, with every piece made and hand finished to the very highest of standards by a small, close-knit team at the firm's workshop overlooking Scapa Flow.

Aurora also offers a jewellery commission service, crafting engagement, wedding and commitment rings, or anything else customers might desire.

The company's friendly shops in Kirkwall and Thurso, and now including the newly opened store in Shetland, stock a large selection of carefully selected gifts suitable for all occasions. Alongside this, the Kirkwall and Shetland stores provide a full Highland dress outfitting service, with kilts, jackets, sporrans, shoes and accessories available to hire or buy. In addition, Aurora is the exclusive outlet for the Orkney Slate, Orkney Magnus and Orkney Heather tartans - available for purchase only - created especially for the firm by designer Morag Ewing.
