The Orkney Brewery is based in the former schoolhouse for Quoyloo, one mile from Skara Brae, in the heart of Neolithic Orkney.

The unrushed culture with its traditional values influences the way we make our beer. We give undivided attention to each stage of the brewing process to ensure that our beer reaches you in perfect condition.

Owned and run by Orcadian, Norman Sinclair, Orkney Brewery is Orkney's oldest brewery and offers such iconic brands as Orkney Dark Island, Northern Light and the world famous Skull Splitter - named after Orkney's notorious 7th Earl and its viking heritage.

The Tasting Hall cafe serves hot and cold food, coffees and cakes and the beer bar offer Tasting Paddles of our delicious Orkney ale, Our brewery shop offers all our products to take home and remember your wonderful visit to Orkney. Hot food and drinks are served 11.30-15.45.

Guided tours are available for an indepth look at how and where the magic happens. Book ahead to secure your time as these popular tours can take around 30 minutes, plus sampling time at the end that you can linger over as long as you like.

Children are welcome and the family tours include a jotter and Corncrake trail for younger members of the family to explore. Dressing up in the school uniform from the old Victorian school house is a big hit too!
