TO ORKNEY FOR A DAY TRIP OR A LONGER STAY.

Orkney’s own ferry company - for speed, value and environmental efficiency.

The crossing takes approximately one hour during which you will sail through the Pentland Firth and into the Orkney Archipelago. Operating from Gills Bay in Caithness to St Margaret’s Hope in Orkney, this is the shortest and quickest sea route with your car. It is the most sheltered crossing from the mainland to Orkney.

Throughout the crossing there is the opportunity to see a wide selection of local wildlife including seals, porpoises, killer whales, puffins and other sea birds.

Pentland Ferries is a family run business, and is proud of their commitment to the environment by operating ferries that are greenest in their class, both in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The company’s wider green commitment includes working with local producers and suppliers to support the local community and reduce carbon emissions.
